Shane’s journey began in Rathangan, Wicklow, Ireland, where he quickly made a name for himself as a talented jockey. His career highlights include being crowned champion conditional jockey in Ireland and representing his home country in the Ireland vs. Australia Jockey Challenge in 2008. Shane also competed at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival in England, earning recognition for his skill and dedication.

After relocating to Australia, Shane continued to excel in the saddle, achieving multiple wins and gaining widespread respect within the racing community. Among his notable achievements, Shane claimed two victories in the esteemed Tommy Corrigan Medal, which celebrates the best jumps jockey in Australia. These accolades solidified his reputation as one of the finest riders in the sport. 

Shane retired from the saddle in 2021 after a highly successful career as a jockey, during which he garnered widespread respect within the racing community. Following his retirement, Shane transitioned into an assistant trainer role, where he honed his skills and deepened his understanding of horse training. In 2022, he obtained his own trainer’s license and began working with one or two horses, achieving early successes that reflected his dedication and expertise. Building on this strong foundation, Shane took a significant step forward in September 2024 by opening his own stable in Warrnambool, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in his racing career.
